Project Management
Publishers: Are your production or editorial departments bursting at the seams?
Non-publishers: Have you been charged with getting something in print and don't know how to go about it?
Toynbee Editorial Services provides project management solutions for commissions ranging from individual marketing leaflets right through to multi-volume book series. Working closely with a wide network of trusted suppliers and partners, we offer a full service production package controlling your editing, illustration, permissions, typesetting, proofing and print-buying requirements. We are also experienced in handling your related multimedia requirements, including CD-ROM builds, companion websites and electronic workflows.
Consultancy
'Toynbee Editorial Services is a great company to work with. Jeremy is knowledgeable, efficient and delivers on time.' Sarah Flynn, Publisher, Pearson Education
Project Management
Consultancy
Additionally, we are happy to provide consultancy for initial project evaluation and briefing - a role that we are increasingly taking on to the great benefit of clients, saving them costly mistakes later in production.
The more varied and challenging the project the better we will be able to help you. We have and can find outsourcing solutions for nearly all enquiries received - if, by chance, we cannot then we certainly know someone who can.
Peer Review Management
Academic editors: Do you have sufficient time, resources and office space to effectively manage your peer review processes?
Publishers: Do the editors of your important journals need support? Do you need an added incentive to retain that society or association contract?
Toynbee Editorial Services can offer bespoke solutions to ease the burden on academic editors. At the most basic level we advise on best procedures and tracking systems. More comprehensive solutions include virtual assistant/managing editor support. We can adapt to your existing procedures and tracking systems or oversee the transition to a more streamlined setup. We are used to working with both home-made databases/spreadsheet records and sophisticated web-based submission systems, such as Manuscript Central. We can prepare reports for, and attend, Editorial Board meetings and handle any editing or proofing obligations you might have.
Book Reviews
Peer Review Management
Book Reviews
We also offer management of books for review. This can simply be the provision of a central receiving and dispatch point for your books, logging all books on a database and maintaining reviewer and publisher contact details. More comprehensive packages include approaching reviewers to undertake reviews (on your behalf and following your instructions), checking and holding submitted reviews for publication and handling both paper and pdf offprint requirements.
'It has been a pleasure to work with Jeremy Toynbee closely on the editing and production of the Journal of Contemporary History. He has done a huge amount to move the management and publication of the journal into the twenty-first century.'
Niall Ferguson, Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History, Harvard University
